So: you love <insert your creative specialty here>, but you hate the other parts of being a successful freelancer. You know—sending awkward LinkedIn messages, doing month-end invoices for a bunch of clients with different systems, and oh yeah: figuring out what to charge and whether that should be project rate, hourly fee, or maybe you’ll just never send them an invoice at all because you still can’t decide between FreshBooks and QuickBooks (seriously: what’s the difference?).
Anyway.
When you join the Freelance Squad, you won’t have to worry about any of that. You’ll have interesting projects sent your way from fully vetted clients, while still getting to set your own rate—which, by the way, we can totally help with.
Since we're all about making things easier for freelancers in general, check out our Freelancer all-in-one Notion CRM toolkit. It's set up with fancy automations, integrations, and relations to help you sync and keep track of your clients, projects, tasks, invoices, and time tracking, all in one place. Download the template to spend less time hunting down client information and more time closing those deals.
Download your freelancer toolkitThink of us as a non-agency agency to help you match with incredible clients. You get all the benefits of being part of a collaborative, supportive community, while still being completely in control of your own business. We believe in pay transparency as the right way to do things, so you’ll always know what your work is going for. You choose the type of work, how much (or how little) you want to do, and what you want to charge.
Our job is three-fold: to help you find the work that gets you most excited, to work with you to negotiate the rates you deserve, and to share learnings, best practices, and advice on all things freelancing.
We’re in this together, so let's make it fun ✌️
There’s no cost to joining the Freelance Squad. You set your own rates and decide the work you want to take on. We charge a small % for administrative costs like finding the work, discovery calls, and monthly invoicing, which we share upfront with you.
At the end of each month you’ll submit your invoice for any client work directly to the Freelance Squad. We invoice clients directly and pay you out at the end of the following month via direct deposit. You’re never stuck waiting on late payments or dealing with transaction fees.
You don’t need a portfolio of work, but it definitely helps to have examples of what you’ve done. If you don’t have a fully polished website, don’t sweat it; a Google Drive showcasing your best stuff or a series of links to content is just fine. We’ll work with you to create a tip-top mini portfolio that we share with clients.
Yes and no. We offer clients a range of junior and senior creatives, so don’t worry if you don’t have 10+ years of experience under your fashionable-yet-comfortable belt. Of course, our clients do have high expectations that we always strive to exceed, so it’s important that you can reliably deliver excellent content on-time and on-budget.
You should have a body of work (doesn’t have to be extensive), an idea of your bandwidth for projects, a rough estimate of your rates, a short bio, and a headshot (doesn’t have to be professional, but should look professional). Check out our intake form here and apply!
